The Head of AI Strategy & Transformation will lead the development and execution of the business’s artificial intelligence strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide priorities while driving measurable business impact. This executive will serve as the central leader coordinating AI initiatives across all business lines, establishing governance, enabling innovation, and ensuring strategic investments in AI deliver operational efficiency, improved client and employee experiences, and revenue growth opportunities.

Reporting directly to the President and Head of Charles River Development, this leader will provide strategic oversight across all AI efforts, working closely with internal business leaders, R&D teams, enterprise AI stakeholders, and external technology partners to accelerate adoption and maximize value realization.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise AI Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the business-wide AI vision, roadmap, and strategic priorities aligned with broader enterprise objectives
  • Identify and prioritize AI opportunities that deliver measurable outcomes across:
    • Cost reduction and operational efficiency
    • Client experience enhancement
    • Employee productivity and experience
    • Revenue growth and innovation opportunities
  • Advise senior leadership on AI market trends, emerging technologies, risks, and strategic opportunities

Cross-Business Coordination & Governance

  • Serve as the central point of coordination across all business lines to track, assess, and govern AI initiatives
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive portfolio view of all AI use cases, pilots, and implementations
  • Lead AI governance forums and executive steering committees (SteerCo), ensuring transparency, accountability, and decision-making discipline
  • Establish KPI frameworks to measure initiative success, business value realization, adoption, and scalability

Innovation & Employee AI Enablement

  • Oversee enterprise-facing employee AI innovation programs that encourage idea generation and use-case submissions
  • Create processes for evaluating, prioritizing, and advancing employee-driven AI opportunities
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, responsible innovation, and continuous AI learning across the organization

Partnership with R&D and Delivery Teams

  • Partner closely with R&D, data science, and engineering teams to:
    • Monitor delivery progress across AI initiatives
    • Track productivity and efficiency gains
    • Assess adoption metrics and business impact
    • Ensure solutions align to strategic objectives
  • Translate business priorities into actionable development direction

Enterprise Alignment & Executive Liaison

  • Act as the primary liaison between the business and broader enterprise AI leadership across State Street.
  • Ensure business AI efforts are aligned with larger enterprise strategy, standards, governance, and investment priorities.
  • Elevate business needs, opportunities, and outcomes to enterprise leadership to drive visibility and sponsorship

Vendor & Strategic Partner Management

  • Oversee relationships with third-party AI vendors, technology providers, and strategic external partners
  • Evaluate external AI solutions and partnership opportunities to accelerate capability development and business outcomes
  • Ensure vendor engagements align with business strategy, security standards, regulatory expectations, and enterprise architecture principles
  • Partner with procurement, legal, risk, and technology teams to govern vendor performance, contracts, and value realization

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of leadership experience in strategy, transformation, innovation, technology, or AI-related leadership roles
  • Proven track record developing and scaling enterprise-wide strategic initiatives
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, enterprise AI operating models, and emerging industry trends
  • Experience leading cross-functional governance and executive steering committees
  • Strong executive presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders across business and technology organizations
  • Experience managing external vendor and strategic technology partnerships
  • Strong commercial and operational acumen with demonstrated ability to connect technology investments to business outcomes
  • Experience within large-scale regulated financial services or similarly complex enterprise environments strongly preferred
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline
  • Highly collaborative and influential across organizational boundaries

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $282,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
