ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic senior associate to join our Operational Resilience team with a focus on driving the maintenance and continuous enhancement of our governance control framework. You will play a key role in developing, embedding, and enhancing the firm’s operational resilience framework, driving maturity in our capabilities and ensuring alignment with our evolving business strategy and regulatory expectations. This role involves close collaboration with senior stakeholders across risk, technology, compliance, business continuity, and the wider business to drive resilience maturity and cultural adoption. This role reports directly to the Head of Regulatory Resilience and CASS Oversight and supports those who have ultimate accountability for operational resilience. It will require working with leaders who have responsibility for operational resilience for their respective business functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Framework Development
    • Contribute to and take on a leadership role in the ongoing evolution of the firm’s Operational Resilience strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, risk appetite, and regulatory developments (e.g., FCA PS21/3, CSSF circulars, DORA, MAS Guidelines).
    • Stay informed of the Firm’s evolving business strategy, anticipating areas of focus and to work closely with stakeholders, developing a deeper understanding of their business processes and practices to help identify opportunities for risk preparedness and improved controls.
    • Stay up to date with latest developments issued by in-scope Regulators to ensure the firm’s alignment with regulatory expectations and actively monitor industry trends, peer practices, and emerging risks to inform resilience enhancements at the firm.
    • Foster and drive a culture of continuous improvement and resilience ownership across the first and second lines of defence, leading by example and encouraging partnership and collaboration to deliver the best outcomes for the firm, also considering how technology and use of AI can help to maximise efficiency and productivity.
  • Control & Framework Enhancement
    • Lead team’s regular routines to implement required annual activities and execute the control framework for the Operational Resilience team
    • Lead on the development and evolution of our Policies, Procedures, Methodologies, Control artefacts such as IBS mappings, vulnerability questionnaires, playbooks and routines that ensure we maintain a strong and evolved governance and control framework, including execution and delivery against our “Self-Assessment”.
    • Drive improvements in identifying and mapping important business services and their dependencies in collaboration with business owners. Strengthen impact tolerance setting and testing, integrating results into risk and business planning. Ensure timely tracking and closure of remediation actions, audit findings, and control improvements.
  • Governance and Oversight
    • Lead the coordination of governance forums: manage agendas, ensure the production of insightful reporting packs, track actions, and ensure senior stakeholder engagement.
    • Support preparation of materials for Board Reporting
    • Identify and deliver enhancements to governance processes, tooling, documentation, and reporting practices.
    • Develop and maintain meaningful KPIs/KRIs, risk and control dashboards, and heatmaps to support executive-level decision-making on resilience and risk exposure.
    • Lead the identification and development of risk management systems to enhance the efficiency and integration of the firm’s control environment. Actively participate in RFP processes, evaluate and select vendors, and manage ongoing vendor relationships to support the firm’s risk management maturity.
    • Support regulatory readiness, internal audit reviews, and provide guidance on resilience obligations related to new regulations, acquisitions, or business model changes proactively engaging across the business to stay aware of transformational change and business developments
    • Drive the development & delivery of internal training including bespoke classroom
  • Testing, Scenario Planning & Lessons Learned
    • Lead scenario testing with business and technology stakeholders to ensure exercises are realistic, relevant, and identify opportunities to strengthen resilience. Produce actionable post-exercise reports, extract lessons learned and drive the implementation of improvements across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Influence
    • Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders across the business, technology, risk, and compliance
    • Partner with business leads to embed resilience thinking into change initiatives, operational design, and third-party arrangements and taking the lead to identify and assess impact to our control framework.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, or related discipline; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CBCI, ISO 22301, IRM, ITIL) a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in operational risk, resilience, business continuity, or a control/governance-focused role within financial services.
  • In-depth understanding of operational resilience regulations and frameworks (e.g., FCA, CSSF, DORA, MAS Guidelines, NIST, ISO 22301).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrate experience of managing and / or influencing people (project teams, virtual teams or line management) to deliver positive outcomes for the business and key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including relationship building and stakeholder management and the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrable interest and expertise in operational resilience, operational risk and business continuity regulations applicable to asset management firms. Experience and capability in building and maturing a business resilience program based on an industry recognized best practices. Be the go-to person in the organization for operational resilience – including global influence and practice
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of enterprise risk, vulnerabilities, control frameworks, and resilience risks relating to business operations and technology.
  • Proven excellence in written and verbal communication skills with the ability to target messages according the audience and present effectively to senior management.
  • Robust organizational skills, delivering tasks and managing resources to attain target dates.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, and Word); familiarity with risk tooling (e.g., Archer, IBMOpenPages ServiceNow, Ruleguard and other similar applications) and MI tools such as Tableau and an interest in Artificial Intelligence tools and methodologies.

Preferred:

  • Extensive experience of delivering operational resilience or key risk management frameworks in a global organization.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in financial services, information technology, or corporate continuity environments strongly preferred.
