Your role

Are you interested in software automation? Do you have a knack for spotting inefficiencies and addressing them with software solutions? We’re looking for an intern to join our team as a Python Automation Developer.

In this role, you will:

• assist in designing, developing, and maintaining Python-based automation solutions to optimize business processes
• collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and implement reusable and scalable solutions
• ensure high-quality code through testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• help integrate solutions with UBS’s Robotics Operation Centre (ROC).
• contribute to developing a framework for automating Excel spreadsheets with Python.

You will have the opportunity to learn about different technologies used across the bank and create software artifacts with Python and supporting technologies. Your tasks may involve GUI automation, web scraping, orchestration, Excel automation, data transformation, API integration and more. You will be developing software artifacts classified as business-developed applications (BDAs) and integrate them with UBS’s central orchestration and control platform for business process automation – Robotics Operation Centre (ROC).

Your team

You will be working with the MDS Tooling & Automation team in our Wroclaw office, part of a wider Supply Chain function. We are responsible for optimizing business processes with apps, automation, and analytics. We utilize self-service cloud-based technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI), Automation Anywhere, Alteryx, as well as Python and VBA.

Your expertise

We’re looking for candidates who have:

• experience developing code with Python or any other object-oriented programming language
• experience with manipulating data with common Python libraries (e.g. NumPy, Pandas)
• object-oriented programming skills and understanding of how to modularize and reuse code effectively
• understanding of any Python automation framework (Selenium, Beautiful Soup, Playwright, Robot Framework etc.) (a plus)
• Excel automation skills and familiarity with ways Python can work with Excel (e.g. pywin32, openpyxl, xlwings, PyXLL etc.) (a plus)
• familiarity with Robotics Process Automation (RPA) technology
