Your role
– We are looking for an Oil, Gas and Chemicals Research Associate to support senior analysts in delivering high-quality, differentiated research to institutional clients.
In this role, you will:
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models, including forecasts and scenario analysis, to support stock coverage
• Perform fundamental analysis, including earnings drivers, regulatory frameworks, and sector-specific dynamics across the oil, gas and chemicals/new materials value chains
• Produce high-quality research reports, notes, and thematic pieces with clear investment recommendations (Buy/Sell/Hold)
• Generate differentiated investment insights by combining industry knowledge with valuation frameworks (DCF, multiples, sum-of-the-parts, etc.)
• Monitor sector developments, including policy changes, commodity trends, refining margins, chemical spreads, and technological developments, to identify investment opportunities
• Engage with corporate management, industry experts, and internal stakeholders to enhance research perspectives
• Support client interactions by preparing materials and responding to investor inquiries

You'll be working in the Equity Research team in Beijing/Shanghai. We are an open and energetic team. We work closely with corporates and clients.
Your expertise
You have:
• Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements
• Demonstrated interest in oil, gas, petrochemicals, and broader energy and chemicals sectors
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate investment views clearly and concisely in English
• Strong compliance awareness and risk-control mindset.
You are:
• Commercially minded, with a strong interest in financial markets and stock investing
• A proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Detail-oriented, disciplined, and committed to high-quality output
• An independent thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing, and deadline-driven environment
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
