Your role
The SAP MDG Lead is a senior, hands-on role within the SAP Finance Centre of Excellence, responsible for the quality, consistency, and governance of master data across the SAP Finance landscape. The role combines deep functional/technical expertise in SAP Master Data Governance with the maturity to operate independently, set standards, and mentor others in a fast-scaling team.
Own day-to-day maintenance and quality of master data objects (e.g. GL accounts, cost objects, business partner data) within SAP MDG
•Design, configure, and continuously improve MDG data models, workflows, validation and derivation rules
• Act as the escalation point for master data issues, triaging and resolving data quality incidents in a timely manner
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate master data requirements into governed, repeatable processes
• Define and maintain run-book procedures, controls, and SLAs for ongoing master data operations
• Support master data aspects of data migration, testing, and cutover activities for finance transformation initiatives
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement in master data maintenance and governance
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to building capability within the wider CoE team
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing and cross-training between business-process and technical disciplines within the CoE

Your expertise
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong hands-on experience configuring and supporting SAP Master Data Governance (MDG), including data modelling, workflow design, and validation/derivation rules
• Solid understanding of core finance master data objects and how they flow into downstream SAP Finance applications
• Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Finance processes and data structures
• Understanding of how master data is consumed across the broader finance application landscape, including PAPM, FPSL, FSDM, and Group Reporting
• Awareness of BW/SAC (or equivalent) reporting layers and how master data quality impacts downstream reporting and analytics
• Exposure to procurement and expense-management platforms such as Ariba, Fieldglass, and Concur, and how they consume or integrate with master data
• Ability to work with non-SAP financial systems and applications that may consume MDG-governed data, understanding integration patterns and data exchange considerations
• Ability to define and operate data governance frameworks (policies, standards, controls, and SLAs) that hold consistently across multiple consuming applications
• Comfort acting as a data governance bridge across a multi-application landscape, able to converse credibly with
functional owners of each consuming application, not just within MDG itself
• Exposure to data migration, cutover, or large-scale finance transformation activities is an advantage
• SAP MDG certification is a plus but not mandatory
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• 8–15 years of overall SAP experience, with substantial hands-on exposure to SAP MDG
• Experience operating in a senior, largely autonomous capacity within a finance or master data function
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field
