We are seeking an experienced Developer to join the APAC Algos team within the Agency Trading Stream. The role is responsible for designing, developing, delivering and supporting high-performance electronic-trading software for a global internal and external client base across Equities, Exchange-Traded Derivatives and Foreign Exchange.

• Design, develop, test and deliver robust, scalable software for real-time, event-driven and distributed electronic-trading platforms.
• Analyse complex algorithmic-execution requirements and implement solutions for trading algorithms, Smart Order Routing (SOR), internalization and Direct Market Access.
• Contribute to the rollout of the global Algos platform, adapting capabilities to APAC market structures and requirements.
• Enhance system capacity, latency, throughput, stability, resilience, monitoring and operational supportability.
• Increase automated-test coverage and evolve the simulation test harness for additional algorithm, model and market scenarios.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise requirements for cybersecurity, platform hosting, application monitoring, logging and production readiness.
• Collaborate with global Technology teams, Quants and Traders, and provide Level 3 support for releases, incidents and root-cause analysis.

The team

You will be working in the Front Office Algo Development Team in Sydney reporting to the APAC Head of Agency Algo Trading Development. We are responsible for providing best in class award winning execution trading algorithms, smart order routing (SOR) and direct market access for a global client base both internally and externally across Equities, Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD) and FX asset classes.

Your skills and experience

A collaborative and self-motivated engineer who is passionate about solving complex trading problems, you can work effectively across teams and regions, progresses work with autonomy and integrity, challenges constructively, and balances timely delivery with long-term software quality and operational resilience.

• Approximately seven or more years of software-development experience in real-time, event-driven and distributed application environments.
• Expert knowledge of Core Java or C++, with strong proficiency in at least one and willingness to work with both.
• Hands-on experience in algorithmic-trading and SOR development.
• Proven delivery against demanding non-functional requirements, including stability, capacity, scalability, latency, throughput, monitoring and logging.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including concurrent programming, distributed systems, automated testing and performance optimization.
• Practical experience with agile development, CI/CD, build automation and deployment processes.
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related technical discipline, with strong written and verbal English communication skills.
