Key responsibilities

UBS Evidence Lab is looking for a web mining engineer to join its Execution team. The teams’ focus is building scalable frameworks and services used to analyse large datasets in the context of financial analysis and alternative data. They leverage well-established engineering processes and techniques pioneered by giants in the tech industry. Projects span general pipelining to collecting valuable data from various sources and helping develop robust and sustainable data pipeline.

Responsibilities:
- develop data collecting scripts to be leveraged by clients, internally and externally
- maintain existing projects and ensure its robustness, acceptable performance and reliability
- maintain a high standard of code quality within the broader Execution team
- adapt the latest data processing and infrastructure techniques to our growing stack

Your skills and experience

Minimum Qualifications:
- formal education in Computer Science or related quantitative field
- fluent English communication skill
- second-nature knowledge of SQL
- solid programming skill in JavaScript or Python
- knowledge of networking basics
- knowledge of algorithms and data structures
- Basic understanding of the financial market and/or financial analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
- experience with web scraping
- experience with website frontend and backend design
- experience with agile development
- experience with Apache Spark
- experience with vibe coding
- excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
