Key responsibilities

Are you a highly experienced financials services professional with a proven track record of delivering significant change programs and the ability to build critical relationships with external regulators and other key stakeholders?

We are looking for an Lead Entity Controller who can:

• Lead the UBS Jersey location financial and regulatory reporting team, covering two significant Branches with a combined balance sheet of +$100bn (one existing, one new)
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, notably the local UBS Jersey Management Committee and the Jersey Financial Services Commission, building on the role of Finance as a critical partner for decision making in addition to delivering Finance’s core mandatory responsibilities
• Proactively manage competing deliverables including Group Finance’s increasing focus on artificial intelligence and the implementation of a new global ledger (AmpliFi), and oversee a continuous improvement program for Jersey’s reporting in keeping with its increasing importance to UBS Group
• Drive a scalable Jersey Finance function which can deliver the full suite of reporting for the two Jersey Branches without requiring incremental headcount

This Channel Islands location has its own local government, regulatory and taxation environment separate from the UK mainland. The Finance team lead needs to live locally in Jersey as a regulatory requirement and to manage its key stakeholders.

The team

You’ll be working at UBS’s Jersey location, 1 International Finance Centre (IFC), St Helier. You will have a local team of three in Jersey, and a further five in the Poland near-shore location.

The team's primary mandate is to produce and review the monthly IFRS financials for two Jersey Branches, supported by product control for certain elements, and produce the JFSC quarterly regulatory reporting. Providing this ‘entity’ lens to various product, accounting and risk issues is a critical support role for our UK SMFs (Senior Management Functions), as well as our external regulators and auditors.

The Branches encompass two critical businesses: Global Wealth Management (GWM) and Group Treasury (GT). This location is a critical financing hub for UBS Group.

Your skills and experience

• Extensive post-qualification experience in a finance position
• Previous experience as a senior leader within a financial services Finance function, including managing a team
• Qualification in either Finance, Economics or Accounting, with Big 4 experience preferred.
• Previous experience with the Wealth Management sector an asset but not essential
• Proven record of delivering strategic and tactical process change for the area within their remit.
• Strong analytical skills with great attention to detail.
• Excellent communicator who can adapt style to audience, including experience delivering key financial information to very senior managers
• Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerBI. AI and/or automation knowledge, and prior experience with Axiom would be an asset.
• Motivated, self-directed and creative.
