Investment Communications Manager Business Area: Corporate Affairs Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract Please note this role will close at 00.01 on the 6th March so we advise making your application by midnight on the 5th March. In your role as Investment Communications Manager you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to produce compelling, engaging narratives tailored to target audiences across a range of channels to promote USS Investment Management’s capabilities, approaches, achievements and performance, and protect its standing as a major, responsible sovereign investor. As a trusted part of the Corporate Affairs team you will: - Act as the principal point of contact, internally and externally (including media), for all investment-related communications, including supporting on Responsible Investment and Public Affairs themes.
- Promote strategic media and stakeholder engagement opportunities to build and enhance relationships with key contacts.
- Lead on internal relationship management to proactively support the delivery of first class communications on investment issues and activities, securing input and sign-off.
- Translate expert investment inputs into compelling easy to understand narratives and content, tailored for different channels and audiences.
- Identify best practice amongst global asset managers/pension schemes of similar standing and support the evolution of communications activity across the business.
- Develop and deliver a clear, measurable and achievable multi-channel rolling plan of proactive investment-related communications, demonstrably linked to supporting strategic priorities.
- Take responsibility for delivering the plan within agreed budgets.
- Assess media and stakeholder coverage to identify reactive reputational risks and PR opportunities in the investment space, and act accordingly.
- Curate a suite of ‘owned media’ promoting USS Investment Management’s capabilities, approaches, achievements and performance.
- Ensure owned content and briefing materials are routinely reviewed and updated as required to maintain accuracy and contemporaneousness.
- Produce and present monthly performance reports to business leaders.
- Liaise closely with the wider business to ensure Group communications activity is co-ordinated, consistent, and complementary, at all times.
- Support stakeholder engagement, majoring on investment issues.
- Support Internal Communications activity, majoring on investment issues.

To be successful in the role you will have: - Asset management or related financial service knowledge,
- Excellent communicator, written, oral and executive level presentations.
- Strong influencing skills; able to adapt style to achieve senior support to achieve goals.
- Creative thinker, able to take complex data and concepts and present them simply in a manner which is engaging and tailored to a target audience; demonstrable awareness of audience needs and ability to tailor approach to suit.
- Experienced in corporate communications across a wide group of internal and external stakeholders.
- Media management experience, including national publications and broadcast.
